Explain the types and characteristics of concrete mixers in detail

Concrete mixer is a mechanical device for centrally mixing concrete, with high degree of automation and high production efficiency. There are many models of concrete mixers, but their structures are basically similar. Next, we will introduce the main classification and characteristics of concrete mixers in detail.

1. According to the operation mode, it can be divided into two types: cyclic operation type and continuous operation type.

①The three processes of feeding, stirring and unloading of the cyclic operation type are carried out at certain time intervals, that is, mixing by portions. Since all kinds of materials required for mixing are accurately weighed, the mixing quality is better, which is the general trend of future development.

②The three processes of feeding, stirring and discharging of the continuous operation type are carried out continuously in a long cylinder. Although its cycle operation is high, the mixing quality is poor due to the difficulty in controlling the ratio of each material and the mixing time, and it is rarely used at present.

2. According to the stirring method, it is divided into two types: self-fall stirring and forced stirring.

①The self-falling mixer is to put the mixture in a rotating mixing drum. With the rotation of the mixing drum, the blades in the drum lift the mixture to a certain height, and then fall down by itself, so as to achieve the purpose of uniform mixing. Self-falling mixers are mostly used for mixing plastic concrete and low-flow concrete. The cylinder and blades wear less and are easy to clean, but have high power consumption and low efficiency, and are mostly used in small civil buildings. Due to the large wear and tear of the aggregate, the impact of the concrete quality, and the high energy consumption and low efficiency, these mixers have been gradually replaced by forced mixers.

②Forced mixer is the mixing drum that does not move, and the blades in the drum rotate around the rotary shaft to achieve the purpose of uniform mixing of the concrete. This mixer has a strong mixing effect, and is suitable for hard aggregate concrete and light aggregate concrete, as well as fluid concrete. It has the characteristics of fast mixing speed, good mixing quality, easy operation and high production efficiency. However, this kind of mixer also has shortcomings such as large power consumption and fast blade wear, and is mostly used in large and medium-sized mixing stations.
